19) Thursday 4th February 2010

Started the official Tavern Facebook. Why not log on and drive over there (search: The Tavern, Yokohama)?
Comments, complaints (har!), jokes, anything really! Go on then...

18) SATURDAY 14th November 2009

17) WEDNESDAY 4th November 2009

SPECIALLY for those of you who actually read this crap - a link to see the TV program we were on last week! Yes, I know - I'm a prat!

16) MONDAY 2nd November 2009

HALLOWEEN was a great night. The first customers in had to rip their way through cobwebs to get to the bar. It went on all night with dancing, until, that is, someone spilt beer on the DJs equipment. The sparks didn't notice with all the other lights flashing away. Photos are flooding in. Well three anyway. I'll get a gallery up soon - watch this space...

15) SATURDAY 24th October 2009

New menu from today! We introduce Aussie Beef Pies and Chicken Pies, flown in from Down Under. Take 'em straight or with beans (and sleep with the window open). Also great Buffalo Wings - they're spicy and sticky. Well, not so much sticky, well, maybe. Yes. We'll be serving Pies, Pizzas and Toasted Sandwiches until closing time every day from now on too. Fantastic eh?

By the way - did anyone see us on the telly ? I didn't :-( Too busy brushing up on my jokes.

14) TUESDAY 20th October 2009

Halloween decoration day today. No photo - come and see! :-) Don't forget to put the all-night party on 31st in your diary.

13) SATURDAY 17th October 2009

The televion people visited us this evening. We'll be introduced on Kanagawa TV (TVK) Saturday 24th at 6pm. Please watch!

12) FRIDAY 16th October 2009

Installed some disco lights today, just for the weekly SATURDAY NIGHT TRAIN! So stop by after midnight on Saturdays and wear your dancing trousers. Or something. Or nothing?

11) TUESDAY 6th October 2009

What's going on? 2 blog entries in 2 days!? Well, toda yis the 20th birthday of The Tavern (where it now stands - we opened in China Town 24 years ago) and we had a little party to celebrate. Thanks to all our customers who made it all possible, and last so long !

Here's your genial host with some customers and an inflatable man...

10) MONDAY 5th October 2009

We had a Tavern Beer 'n' Pie shop at Suzuka F1 and just got back to Yokohama. Drank more beer than we sold, but it was fun...

9) SATURDAY 30th May 2009

WELL, Finally updated the rest of the home page, and this brog. You might be interested to learn we've actually got round to getting the men's toilet door fixed (asked a dodgy carpenter to look at it anyway!). It all came to a head (pardon the pun) when it fell on some poor bloke who was quietly (presumably) parking his breakfast. It would be poetic if was the same bloke who was unfortunate enough to be sitting on the loo when it became detached from the wall and it, and he, slid to the floor. Must be the beans! Also bought a new projector,as those naughty smokers have done-in yet another.

8) FRIDAY 1st May 2009

PAULO disappeared in a puff of Absinthe fumes, and has been replaced with other dregs of society. Namely Harry Potter. Welcome Harry. Good luck Paulo. Also in comes another chef to compliament KC, his name is Jesse (or, JC. I wonder if they are related?)

7) FRIDAY 6th March 2009

OUCH! That's all I can say. And do at the moment. Gangegrene? Club Foot? Gout? I dunno! But me right foot has swollen to a hundred times it's normal size and so I'm stuck at home. (Can't get it through the door) But, fear not - I'm studying the joke book to make a come-back soon fully armed with more garbage to have you groaning. Huh! As if anyone cares, sniff. BUT ... don't worry, life at the Tavern goes on, probably better than usual (better jokes/service anyway). Get on down there, please!

6) WEDNESDAY 25th Feb 2009

THANKS ERIC, for the free ticket!

Good ol' Eric Clapton ran out of Branston Pickle during his tour of Japan, so who replenished his supplies? The Tavern of course. So there I was listeneng to the man himself. It was great, as you'd expect. Great seat too - thanks Eric :-)

4) THURSDAY 30th October

It is with immense sadness to report the passing today of one of our most popular and lovable customers - Doug Lee.

Our heartfelt condolences go to Saori (they were to marry one day), and his family. He will be greatly missed. We will hold a wake at the Tavern on Tuesday 25th November, all those that knew Doug are invited. A light buffet will be provided, drinks as usual. Hawaiian shirts and black ties recommended.

We'll all miss you man

3) You must have heard of the Stereophonics !? This famous band of blighters from the UK popped in to oil their chords and insisted on having a picture taken with me. Well, I don't mind that sort of thing, so I agreed and here's the result. By the way, they were touring Japan and I actually like their music! Check them out!!! (OK lads?)........

2) SCARY news for some - Golly (or is it Grizzly?) is back in town. Some headed for the hills, others checked in to the Rehab Centre. But for the brave and strong of liver, he's here. If rugby is on (or maybe cricket) he'll be found propping up the end of the bar. Watch as we re-boot him around midnight. Wonder with awe what he might break next.

Anyway, it's getting hot, so you must remember to replenish those bodily fluids. We have London Pride and now also Pedigree (as a guest beer). Whatever - get down to the air-conditioning and buy me one.

See you later :-)

1) OKAY, the first TavBlog of all time. More of a blogette really. We tried making a PodCast about a year ago, it was too sordid to publish. Everyone concerned got so smashed they didn't ever come back on weekdays (you know who you are!). Eventually, when I sobered up and cut out the filth, profanities and other stuff bound to offend, there was nothing left except the sound of someone making a mess on the carpet (you know who you are too. I think!). We got through a bottle of vodka, an unspecified (unremembered) quantity of cider, and only managed to set fire to a table once (sambuca? Bad idea!).

Anyway, never mind that. Where's all you darts enthusiasts, eh? We diligently set up the ochie every Monday, so come along - and bring your penalty money (11 or less!). Just 'cause Willy's away in sunny Spain, there's no excuse. And whatever happened to Golly? He seems to have vanished off the face of the earth!

Listen, I'll write more here very soon - promise. But I'm sober right now (and sleepy), and I can't remember anything that happened whilst boozing. I'll continue this after a skinfull one night. Should be more interesting.

Hey, send some jokes! If they're not too un-PC I'll stick 'em in this blog thingy. If they're really bad, I'll tell them to you one Sunday afternoon!

See you tomorrow :-)
